Hunting

Hunters will find a variety of game, including rabbit, dove, squirrel, turkey, deer, and waterfowl at Pomme de Terre.

 

Hunting is permitted in all areas of the project with the exception of the park areas and administration areas.


Project lands with their deciduous forest, cedar glades, and open fields support wildlife communities typical of the Ozark region. White-tailed deer are found in the area along with small game and fur-bearing animals such as the cottontail rabbit, beaver, fox and gray squirrels, raccoon, opossum, spotted and striped skunks, red and gray foxes, woodchuck, coyote, muskrat, mink, and eastern chipmunk.

Anglers will find a variety of fish, including largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill, catfish, and white bass at Pomme de Terre.

Fishing is permitted in all areas of the project with the exception of the designated swim beaches, marina fuel areas, and posted restricted zones.

Project waters, with their submerged timber, rocky points, and gently sloping coves, support fish populations typical of the Ozark region.

 

Largemouth bass are abundant throughout the lake, along with popular panfish such as crappie and bluegill. Channel catfish and flathead catfish are also found in the area, along with seasonal runs of white bass that provide additional angling opportunities.
